About Canny Books

Canny Books was founded in 2000 by two experienced primary school teachers, Andy and Barbara Seed, to provide consultancy, training and writing services to the education sector. Since then the company has branched into providing ideas, copy and writing services for a wide range of media.

Andy has worked in the education sector for 25 years, including eight years as Deputy Head in a York Primary School. He has also been an advisory teacher for Design & Technology and a part-time lecturer at Leeds University amongst many other roles. He has a degree in Psychology and a PGCE teaching qualification. Andy is also the author of over 20 educational books and a published children's writer and poet. He is a Man United fan and loves writing funny captions for photos.

Barbara Seed

Barbara has considerable experience of working in both primary and secondary schools, covering KS1 to KS3. She has a degree in English and a PGCE teaching qualification and is the co-author of several top-selling educational books including the acclaimed Badger Assembly Stories series. Barbara is a bilingual German speaker and a great admirer of Marge Simpson.

Andy and Barbara Seed use their extensive classroom experience to create content for exciting learning resources in several media. We specialise in ideas which bring learning to life through interaction, humour, challenge, story and inspiration. We combine a thorough knowledge of the curriculum and the role of the teacher at all Key Stages with an understanding of what really motivates children and students.
